For the past couple months I have been diligently trying to find a substitute caregiver to give me occasional breaks. What a bumpy road. I feel like I take a step forward but then two steps back. I have had four people say…sure they would love to help me out…I even guarantee money. But, then they decide not to. I am going to stop getting my hopes up. I have found an agency. They are very pricey. However, I am thinking someone upstairs may be trying to tell me something. I have now made a decision to only use professional caregivers. Just won’t get as many breaks. Patiently waiting for the first Thursday of the month of November when I get to go to a support group. Hopefully they will have resources to assist me.
Through all this strife I have had my cards. They are my sanity. It gives me something to focus on other than the constant thinking of what will become of me, my hubby and my future.
There are several cards here that feature the “Depth Perception” technique.
Pam my heart goes out to you and I’ve been praying for you every night since I learned about your situation last weekend. God it there, you just have to trust Him and put all your faith in Him even when things are so tough and you just don’t think you can go on another day. Follow your heart and do what it tells you. A support group will be most helpful. If you need a friend to talk to I’m only a phone call away, and an hours drive away.
Hugs,
Jill
Pam, the cards are all beautiful, but I want to tell you I have been in your shoes as a caregiver. Thank God, I had two sisters to share the responsibility until one dropped out and it was then two of us. It is tiring and I pray you can get a trusted person to help out. My mom passed away two years ago and I miss her terribly. But I do have the satisfaction that I did all I could to make those last two years of her life as comfortable as possible. I tell you this to help you know that you are doing the right thing and hopefully the person you are responsible for is appreciative of your sacrifices, including lack of sleep. I can’t imagine having all of the responsibilities on your shoulders, but I pray you get some relief and help soon.
God Bless you and your husband. I will pray it all works out.

Hi Pam, I am a caregiver as well, I know a little of what you are going through. I just read this quote by Henry Ford this morning, “When everything seems to be going against you, remember the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.” My comfort is in the Word. Read Psalm 91 it is such an encouragement.
Your cards are beautiful. Making cards takes my mind away from the present. I will be praying for you.
Pam, Where do I get the instructions on how to do the “depth perception technique”? I would love learn how to do this.
Thank you so much for sharing.

Your cards are beautiful. I understand completely where you are coming from. I hope you find the help you need soon. It can be a lonely place when you are on your own. Sending you strength.
I helped your dear Mom celebrate her birthday, she showed me your card, it was priceless. luv Ruth
Thank you, Ruth. It makes me sad that I cannot come home. But I will not dwell on that…first I must get thru this with my sanity in tact!
I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. I am retiring at the end of the year because I need to be at home more. We are not at the same level you are yet but things are definitely getting worse. I just signed up for your postings and saw your email and I just had to respond. No one can understand unless they go through these things. It is a tough road. It is hard to stay strong. My doctor says it can be harder on the care provider. . . I’m sure you already know that. Take care. My thoughts are with you. Carol
